For so many of us, we stop dreaming big (or dreaming at all) because we think if we don’t achieve the goal we will feel inadequate.
When we don’t plan our time intentionally, we will often have this nagging feeling that there’s something else we should be doing.
The core reason why reminding ourselves about our progress is so important is because of how it makes us feel.
Do you feel like you never “have enough time”? How do you feel when you think you don’t “have enough time?” Anxious? Overwhelmed? Powerless?
If we constantly try to fix our feelings it means “there’s something wrong”. But what if nothing has gone wrong. What if it’s ok to just feel that negative feeling?
When we feel good, motivated, inspired, energised, confident, and brave… we take actions that move us forward towards what we want.
But sometimes when we feel negative feelings like fear, disappointment, frustration, discomfort, defeat, rejection, or deprivation… we stop taking action or we take actions that sabotage what we really want.
If you’re feeling great all the time, like things are just perfect day in and day out, then you’re doing it wrong!
We often think that procrastination, perfectionism and paralysis are driven by laziness or lack of motivation or A-type behaviour.
But the truth is that we procrastinate, perfect and stop taking action on our goals and habits because we want to avoid negative emotions.
